1.SEARCH & AI in 2026 overview

This chart is the cleanest signal I’ve seen in a while: nearly 2/3 of marketers say the biggest AI-driven shift for digital ads in the next 2–3 years is reduced use of traditional search engines like Google (64%).

Next is more AI chatbots & conversational interfaces (50%), then shorter journeys (43%) and more fragmented journeys (41%).

2.THE OBSERVED

Search is not a single highway anymore. It’s splitting into two lanes:

☀️ Classic search (keywords, links, SERP)

🌸 AI search (conversation, synthesis, “just tell me what to do”)

Meanwhile, the world is operating at insane volume: internet users have passed 6 billion, and social media identities are ~5.66B (68.7% of population).

Digital attention is not shrinking, it’s getting redistributed. 

And Digital 2026 estimates more than 1 billion people use standalone generative AI tools every month.  

3. THE AI SEARCH

AI search compresses the work users used to do themselves:

➡️ it summarizes options

➡️ it compares tradeoffs

➡️ it recommends a path

So the “click chain” gets shorter, and the “decision moment” moves earlier.

Also, AI doesn’t “rank pages” the same way.

It retrieves, synthesizes, and answers. That changes what earns visibility: clarity, structured info, proof, and repeatable signals.

One more reality check: Google is still printing money, so this shift is gradual, not overnight. With Gemini, they still play an vital role in search game.

That’s exactly why the winners build now, not later.
