🌸 The Real Reason I’m Biased Toward Blogging
In Marketing, we are often obsessed with big numbers. A viral video or a post with thousands of likes is often defaulted to “success.”
As a Marketer with experience, I’ve realized that the dopamine hit from those numbers fades very quickly.
In fact, sometimes I feel I fail myself.

1.BACKGROUND:
Let’s look at the actual data from my #tommyacademy project:
❎ Volume: Roughly 287,000 Views.
❎ Average Watch Time: Around 13.5 seconds.
Technically, in the context of today’s Attention Economy, 13.5 seconds is not “bad.”
It is actually a decent signal that the hook captured attention effectively.

So let’s be honest: 13.5 seconds creates Hype, not Comprehension
2.The QUESTION
Here’s the problem: when I want to reference something in depth or do a real deep dive, this format doesn’t move me at all.

That’s hype without comprehension.
- How does it build mental muscle?
- How can anyone recall something meaningful from 13 seconds?
The Reason for My Bias Toward Blogging
If I want to refer to something in-depth, or truly “deep dive” into a foundational concept, the short-form format leaves me unmoved.
❌ You cannot build “Mental Muscle” for your audience in just a few seconds of scrolling.
❌ You cannot ensure true Brand Recall when your content slips away like a fleeting breeze.
This connects to the equation I posted on the blog: https://tommyacademy.io/2025/12/26/impactornoise/

3.The POV
It brings us back to the trade-off equation I often discuss. Every channel or medium forces you to make a strategic choice:
1. Volume vs. Value
2. Speed vs. Depth
3. Reach vs. Retention
❎ Short-form delivers Volume, Speed, and Reach.
❎ Build true Expertise and Loyalty, we need Value, Depth, and Retention.
Every channel or medium forces a trade off. It is whether more volume or values, after all!!!
- Volume: quantity
- Value: quality
Reality that you choose between volume or value, speed or depth, reach or retention.
Neither is right or wrong, so you must decide on your own term.
For the #tommyacademy case, I choose the long game. I choose the value that remains, rather than the temporary applause.
Think about this for your specific case.
So, Volume or Value?
